The
OneHealthOneOcean
Project
The earth is made up 70% water...
Many of you already know we have a global plastic issue, yet not many have an idea how to deal with it as they are confused on what is actually recyclable and what not.
There are global efforts of people collecting plastic and other debris on beaches yet once they've collected it all, they don't know what to do with it, ending up again in the normal "trash pile" which will end up eventually again in the ocean.
Plastics are a major part of our lives, very convenient and cheap to make, plastics are everywhere to be found BUT the truth is, we are now seeing the results on a huge scale of the effects of this "convenience".
Marine life is getting tangled up by fishing gear, dying from obstructed guts full of plastic as well as intoxication from the chemicals released from it and so much more.
Pristine beaches are now being waste ground for plastic and other waste and animals such as sea birds are using plastic debris to create their nests, hermit crabs are finding more plastics to use as "home" than shells...
We are also seeing the effects on our health with hormonal disturbances and cancers linked to chemical exposure released by this material.
We are in a time where action needs to be taken from all of us if we want to reverse the devastating effects of such " convenience". Little things do matter, every little step counts.
With our project, we aim to create awareness, to provide useful information and to gather more knowledge on the current situation in order to plan and prevent further damage.
This is totally FREE, all we want from you is to take part in being part of the solution instead of the problem.
Share with everyone you know, take action, create awareness, spread the word...we need the ocean in order to survive.
Be the change you want to see in the world:
*Organise a beach cleanup
*Reduce fish & seafood consumption
*Stop single use plastic
*Don't buy plastic materials
*Buy glass topper containers....
Take a stand for our oceans
Be part of a growing number that is creating a change by helping to clean beaches, reduce fish consumption, eliminating the use of single use plastics, etc.
It is estimated that by 2048, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
Threatened marine life
Marine animals are sentinel species for our oceans
health and our health.
Sea turtles, sea birds, marine mammals and the raise of jelly fish concentrations in our oceans are an indication of the state of our seas. We are finding an increasing number of marine animal strandings caused by many factors from which anthropomorphic causes like overfishing, fishing nets and plastics, ocean pollution, ocean acidification and warming.
